Linda Browne named Authors Daily’s featured author

Authors Daily has named Linda Browne as this month’s featured author, bringing an unusually competitive selection process to a close.

Choosing one author was especially difficult this month. The nominees represented an impressive range of genres, audiences, and publishing paths. The decision was less a simple ranking than a close editorial judgment between writers doing ambitious work in very different ways.

The final field also included Andrew M. Crusoe, Ömer Fidan, Kalie Holford, and Sentadi XIII. Each brought a distinctive voice and a strong body of work to the selection, which made the final decision exceptionally close.

Why Linda Browne stood out

Linda Browne’s work combines middle grade fantasy and steampunk with a clear commitment to younger readers. The Garrison Creek Chronicles, which includes Shadow Apprentice and the prequel novella Rogue Wizard, shows the focused world-building and sense of adventure that ultimately distinguished her in a remarkable field.

Her candid account of building an independent publishing practice also gives other authors a practical view of the choices behind the books—from creative control to wide distribution across multiple platforms.

With the winner now announced, nominations for this selection are closed. Readers can explore Linda Browne’s full profile, including her interview, bibliography, and publishing journey.
